I have been dabbling in cosplay since I was in high school. (fortunately, most of those pictures are not on the the internet and died with the flip phones they were taken on lol) But lately, I have been making an effort to jump into it a little more. Both with well-known characters and just putting on some elf ears and seeing where my makeup brushes take me. And it reminded me. I love doing this! So needless to say I hope to make it more of a priority at the end of this year and going into the next!
I wanted to make a post and talk about my top 3 I have done in the past and maybe get into some ideas I have for next year. I also welcome your suggestion as well!
- Blair from Soul Eater

Blair has been a favorite character of mine for years! Soul Eater was one of the first animes I watched as a teen and I absolutely fell in love with it! and with her. How silly and bubbly and bratty she was. Just there to do her own thing, be adorable, and bother people (mostly Soul). Really it’s no surprise that a purple and black catgirl was a character I loved given where I am today. Dressing up as her really made my inner teen smile.
- D.va From Overwatch

Continuing my trend of cute but bratty characters, and being the gamer girl I am, I couldn’t leave D.va off this list of my favorites! Especially after I just cosplayed her in my first burlesque performance! (more on that another time) I have done several versions of her. (full body suit, the bunny suit I preformed in, casual/working on her mech) and they always make me feel adorable but also in a badass way.
- Huntress from Dead by Daylight

My absolute favorite I have done in recent few years has been Huntress. It’s just so much fun to be scary! My favorite part of this one is probably how much of it I made/altered myself to fit the character. Hanging out in my backyard covering my outfit with fake blood and paint is a fond memory of mine. The adventure of hunting through thrift stores and fabric shops to find the perfect material is definitely the best part and seeing it all come together into a costume that is recognizably the character *chefs kiss* the best feeling!
My goal for next year Is more of the same. I have few ideas, I want to finish the twi’lek I have had in progress for months, Laura Croft would be fun. I would also like to do something with armor maybe, and probably another horror character of some kind. We will see!
